Remembering Christ in Ministry…

May 30, 2011 — Leave a comment

I plan on talking about ministry oriented things on Monday’s and today is a special Monday. I realize my title doesn’t make a lot of sense, because obviously if you are in ministry you are remembering Christ, right? Well, I sure hope so!

Today is Memorial Day, a day that we remember those who have given their lives for our freedom. We should also never forget the sacrifice that Christ made for our freedom from sin. A deacon in my Church that gave the communion meditation yesterday said it well “Freedom is not free!”

Jesus should be our whole world, and yet we get so busy sometimes, we don’t take time to think about Him. Even today on a day that we should slow down and remember those who have given their lives for us, we go different places, or we have so many things to do. I don’t know what it is, but sometimes I feel like I am doing all this work for Jesus, so why take the time to stop and remember him? I have to tell myself over and over again to take time to study his Word, and to pray…just because I am a minister doesn’t mean this stuff comes easy for me, that is for sure! I want to encourage you as a fellow minister of Jesus to remember him in everything that you do.
St. Patrick said it like this…

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ within me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ at my right, Christ at my left.  Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.

What about you? Do you find it difficult sometimes to remember Jesus when you get busy and have lists of things to do? Do you find yourself too busy to slow down and remember Jesus and what he did for us? How can we get better at that?
Remember Christ in your Ministry!
